Bumble Foot (a painful subject)

A few years ago my female Harris had a " touch" of bumble foot.
I keep her on leather-covered perches, rubber perches and plain old branches.
Maia seemed to get her problem from a small puncture wound on the ball of
her foot that I had missed.
A couple of days after a hunting trip, I noticed
a slight swelling and hardening to her foot.
I fed her usual varied diet, I made sure all the perches were scrubbed and
disinfected thoroughly, and cleaned the infected area twice a day with
Witch Hazel (available from most chemists) and then applied "Aloe Vera"
(also available from most chemists).
I never bandaged the foot or impeded it in anyway.
The problem cleared after about 7 days, with no re-occurrence.
