i was wondering if any one has any female harris hawks for sale, please let me know
d.jackson04@tiscali.co.uk
im going to start falconrey in 1 years time ive read many books but wot is a fake rabbit made out of and were can i purches one
matty.anderson82@tesco.net
The fake Rabbit or dummy bunny is basically a canvas tube stuffed with old rags and with a fake fur outer. About 500g is the usual total weight
my son has a male harris hawk. As a mum i just would like to know if it is common for the birds to rest on 1 leg all the time
or is there a problem with him. ?
ally@sargent4.freeserve.co.uk
This is perfectly normal as with all birds, they are in a relaxed state. Just to be absolutely safe check the ball of the other foot
if it rests consistently on one, if its swollen get it to a vets PDQ
After 3 days of having an escaped harris hawk outside our office in the tree and surrounding rooftops, a chap from the IBR register
finally managed to bait her in. She was a magnificant bird, and opened my eyes to the joys of Birds of Prey and falconry.

I've seen you on national geographic episodes and I've always thought that the way you spoke to the birds was really cool.

Well done nice sight and I enjoyed reading your bit about the early training days and am sure Maia is now hitting those bunnies in fine style. It is nice to know that its not plain sailing all of the time and we all seem to get into the same trouble
N.Binge@btinternet.com
Thanks, Maia has been killing bunnies for quite some years now, ( plus assorted) I am glad that you enjoyed the article.
chris i want to know if you can worm birdswith a tablet or is it just through crop tube.
Tablets can be given to hawks by hiding them in their food I would send a mute sample of to Neil Forbes(£7ish)
he will tell you what course of action to take if any is required. email me if you want his contact details Chris
just looking at hawks/my dads name was Claude. .Harris. Hawks. find that quite cool
melody.hawks@stocksupply.com
My father is a Falconer, for about 8-9 years. I watch him everytime, I go on every single hunt with him also.
I love the birds, and I learn as much as I can. If there is any advice you can give me, I do wish to hear.
blackpanthor18@yahoo.com
birds-of-prey rock they are the best birds
ilovehawksto@msn.co.uk
"which is the best books to start with?" I found Phillip Glasiers falconry and hawking to be very comrehensive.
Nick Hammonds on a "Wing and a prayer" is worth a look Tony Hall" falconry basics" not read this one, but got some good feedback from it.
cant agree with the person who saya nick hammonds on a wing and a prayer have read this book and found certain thimgs to be inacurate, and section where he says he's against hunting with dogs is anti fodder.
very good site chris i wrote about loosing my harris to sour crop well new one on way and looking forward to a rewarding season.
Just a word for the person asking about books i find that The complete rabbit and hare hawk by martin hollinshead good book.
very good chapter on sour crop, if only i had seen this 6 months ago perhaps i wouldnt be looking for a new harris
Sorry to hear about the loss of your bird through sour crop. its one of those problems that can kill all too quickly
but there is very little information about it either! Which is very unfortunate.
i am interested in having a harris hawk what would be the best book for beginers on harris hawks as i would like to find out more about them eg; welfare, flying weights, moulting times training etc hopefully you can put me in the right direction many thanks

on monday the 12/7/04 id noticed hed left sundays food so i removed this and fed him the same on tuesday 13/7/04
id noticed hed left it the same as sundays now im in panic mode as he hasnt fed now since saturday evening (at the moment he is moulting)
Edgcumbe4@aol.com
I would strongly reccommend, any hawk exhibiting unusual behaviour patterns or feeding habits should be taken to a good vet imeadiately
try Neil Forbes 01453 752555 ( He will be moving to the swindon area soon )
i love hawks and eagles. they rock!!!
frnhawk2@aol.com
I'm having problems getting the anklets on my new bird. I found it difficult to obtain them infact.
You would think that they would be commercially available for rock hoppers wouldn't you. By the way where can I obtain a good supply of fresh fish????
dcj_hawkins@yahoo.co.uk
To the guy with the rock hopper. I can craft anklets and jesses for these birds. the cost is a reasonable £100 per set.
As for a supply of fish either take up fishing or visit your local Tesco's store
Hi Chris, love the site.
